Barny - underwater platform |

Barny, the underwater platform, was designed to meet the demand of the major International Research Institutions to have a reliable tool to place on the sea floor, which contains and protects the delicate recording instruments from risks arising from the drag-net and other fishing gear and mooring.
The platform consists of a glass fiber container shaped like a truncated cone and an outer cement ring as ballast.
In the central part of the container is placed one unit, able to float, called "pop-up" that contains the instrumentation and can be released by a remote acoustic coded pulses, placed inside the container.
The emergence of Pop-Up unit, characterized by positive buoyancy, allows the recovery of the sensors housed in it, and, at the same time, through a rope in Dyneema fiber, secured to the case, the recovery of the entire platform by a boat with water lifting equipment.
